Does Sasuke Die in Naruto or Boruto? Find It Out Here!

Sasuke Uchiha is one of the few surviving members of the Uchiha clan of Konohagakure.

Thankfully, he does not die in Naruto (though he had many close calls!) and thus far, has not died in Boruto.

Who Is Sasuke?

Sasuke was born on July 23, and is the younger son of Mikoto and Fugaku Uchiha, of the Uchiha clan. Sasuke had an older brother, Itachi, who he adored as a boy.

After Itachi massacred the Uchiha clan, Sasuke swore to avenge their deaths by killing his brother. He joins ‘Team 7’, led by Kakashi Hatake, but defects from Konohagakure shortly after to proceed with his mission.

Years of seeking vengeance and retribution take their toll on Sasuke, and he becomes isolated and branded as a criminal.

After learning the truth behind Itachi’s actions, Sasuke returns to Konohagakure and helps protect the village – earning him the nickname the “Supporting Kage”.

Why Did Itachi Kill The Uchiha Clan?

Danzō Shimura, an elder of Konohagakure (and a major antagonist of the series) persuaded Itachi to kill his clan. He told Itachi that the Uchiha clan were planning to overthrow the village, and that this would result in civil war.

Danzō proposed a solution: Itachi would kill his clan, and take the blame so that Sasuke would not hate the village for inevitably fighting back and destroying the Uchiha clan. Itachi believed he was keeping the peace and preventing another war, and proceeded with the plan.

Despite killing nearly every member of the clan, Itachi could not kill Sasuke, as he loved him too much.

What Is Sasuke Like?

In his youth, Sasuke was cheerful and eager to please. He adored Itachi and when his brother killed their clan, it was a double loss of both his clan and his beloved brother in his life.

To protect him, Itachi told Sasuke that he had never loved him, and this had a profound affect on Sasuke.

Sasuke became cold and uninterested in others, and was motivated only by rage and vengeance. People became pawns to him, either useful for his mission or not, and he isolated himself.

After joining Team 7 under Kakashi Hatake, Sasuke became attached to his teammates and seemed to flourish under Kakashi’s philosophy that teamwork is extremely important. However, this was short-lived and he soon left Konohagakure to focus on his mission.

Years of hatred eroded away the good and gentle parts of Sasuke’s nature, and he developed a very warped view of the world. He founded a philosophy of the “True Hokage” – an individual solely responsible for making the village’s difficult decisions, serving as a scapegoat for the village’s discontent. He volunteered himself for this role, and was pulled back only by Naruto Uzumaki refusing to give up on him.

Sasuke decided then to die, so that the Uchiha clan’s Curse of Hatred would die with him. Naruto again stopped him.

As an adult, Sasuke is warm and caring, and has matured hugely. He spends his time serving and protecting Konohagakure, and is a doting father and family man.

What Is The Curse Of Hatred?

The Curse of Hatred is an ideal within the Uchiha clan – the clan as people are devoted to friendship and love, and when the object of their affections is lost, that love can turn into hatred. This can lead a Uchiha member to do anything to achieve their goals and to surpass others, regardless of the consequences.

When the Uchiha clan was slaughtered, Sasuke initially bore the entire clan’s hatred alone. He became so enveloped in his desire for revenge that all he could see was rage and destruction, only shaken when Sasuke meets and speaks to a reincarnation of his brother.

Throughout it all, Naruto never gives up on Sasuke and believes the curse can be purged. When Sasuke’s daughter Sarada embraces the Will of Fire (an ideology that love is the key to peace), the Curse of Hatred is finally eradicated.

What Does Sasuke Look Like?

Sasuke has black eyes and black hair, which hangs over his face in bangs. As Sasuke ages, his bangs grow and cover more of his face – as an adult, his hair completely covers his face’s left side.

In Part I, Sasuke wears a navy blue shirt with white shorts and white arm warmers.

In Part II, Sasuke wears dark blue pants, a blue cloth covering him from his stomach down to his knees, a purple rope belt, a white long-sleeved shirt and black arm guards.

Due to the Fourth Shinobi War, Sasuke loses his left arm, and declines a prosthetic.

In later adulthood and episodes, he wears a black cloak, grey shirt, periwinkle vest, black pants, purple belt and a dark grey fingerless glove on his remaining hand. He hangs a forehead protector from his left hip.

Where Is Sasuke Now?

Sasuke is married to Sakura Haruno, a kunoichi affiliated with Konohagakure and a member of Team 7. Together, they have a daughter named Sarada.

Sasuke is now a teacher to Boruto Uzumaki in ‘Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’.
