Killer B is a key supporting character in the manga and anime series, ‘Naruto Shippūden’, along with the subsequent manga and anime series, ‘Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’.
He is a shinobi from the village of Kumogakure, and is also a jinchūriki: a human with a tailed beast sealed inside them.
Killer B thankfully does not die in either of the series (so far!), but he definitely comes close. In episode 55 of ‘Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’, titled “The Scientific Ninja Tool”, two characters named Momoshiki and Kinshiki pursue Killer B and extract chakra from him. Luckily, Killer B survives this ordeal.
Who Is Killer B?
As a young boy, Killer B (along with many other children) were summoned by the Third Raikage of Kumogakure to a selection process, through which the Raikage wanted to find a partner for A, his son. Killer B was selected, and subsequently given the name ‘B’. A and B became brothers from that day forward.
Since five years old, Killer B has been friends with Motoi, a now Kumogakure shinobi. After Motoi’s father – amongst many others – was killed by the then jinchūriki of Gyūki, the eight-tailed beast, Killer B was selected to be the next jinchūriki.
After becoming the jinchūriki, Killer B suffered the same discrimination that fellow jinchūrikis Naruto Uzumaki and Gaara received, but still remained strong.
As revenge for his father’s death, Motoi tried to kill Gyūki (and by association, Killer B), but he was unsuccessful. Killer B graciously forgave Motoi for this act, but Motoi was deeply ashamed and as a result, would not speak to Killer B for over thirty years.
In time, Killer B learned how to control Gyūki. When A became Kumogakure’s newest Raikage, he forbade Killer B from completely transforming into the demon, despite Killer B’s now-extensive control.
What Is A Jinchūriki?
Jinchūriki are humans with tailed beasts sealed inside them.
In the past, a gargantuan monster called ‘Ten-Tails’ terrorized the villages. The creature was defeated and sealed within one of its opponents, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki.
Hagoromo thus became the first jinchūriki, and when he knew he would soon die, he split Ten Tails’ chakra into nine separate entities, thus preventing any one of them from becoming too strong and once again terrorizing the world.
What Does Killer B Look Like?
Killer B has white hair (depicted as blonde in the anime), which he wore in a shaggy style when he was a young boy. He has dark skin, and has the symbol for “iron” on his right shoulder – symbolizing the Iron Armor Seal that was used in sealing Gyūki within him. On his left shoulder, he has a bull’s horn tattoo.
Killer B wears a white forehead protector, and the standard flak jacket of Kumogakure, along with sandals, hand-guards, shin-guards, a pale scar and a red belt.
In addition, Killer B wears quite a small pair of oval-shaped sunglasses – certainly an unusual look!
What Is Killer B Like?
Killer B is very strong-willed, as is evident by his ability to control Gyūki. He is proud of this fact and of his power itself, to the point of being cocky and overconfident.
This confidence carries over to his musical hobbies too, because yes, Killer B considers himself a musician. He raps constantly, and takes great pride in it – even though he’s not necessarily very good! In addition, he takes great offence to anyone who mocks his raps or his lyrics.
Killer B is fiercely independent, and this can lead to him being difficult to work with during missions or when in battle. He only truly respects and listens to the orders of the Third Raikage, his brother A.
With all this being said though, Killer B cares deeply about those close to him, and would happily put himself in danger to rescue them, if needed. This is an unusual trait for a jinchūriki, who would often be detached and cold.
Another unusual jinchūriki trait that Killer B possesses is his casual, even amiable relationship with Gyūki – the two often chat together and have relaxed conversations. It’s an impressive ability, that’s for sure!
What Abilities Does Killer B Have?
Killer B is a renowned shinobi and jinchūriki, with an abundance of skills and abilities.
In terms of being a jinchūriki, Killer B’s most impressive feat is by far his ability to bond and co-exist with Gyūki. This friendliness between the two enables Killer B to access all three forms of jinchūriki transformations.
He is adept at kenjutsu, a fighting art in which he uses seven (yes, seven!) knives at once. Most impressively of all, none of these knives are actually held in Killer B’s hands – he holds one in his left armpit, two in each clenched elbow, one at his right shoulder, one between his right leg and belly, one at his right knee and even one in his mouth.
Killer B is also proficient in ninjutsu and fūinjutsu (in which he generates ink to write, to bind and for sealing).
Killer B also has immense chakra reserves, coupled with an impressive physique and strength.
He can tame animals, and is psychologically very resistant and strong – easily able to deflect any psychological attacks.
So Killer B Doesn’t Die… Right?
Correct! Killer B is, to date, alive and well. Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki and Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki (members of the Ōtsutsuki clan) pursue Killer B in order to extract chakra from him.
